F1-2000 M. SCHUMACHER JAPAN GP 2000 #3

The F2000 campaigned in the 2000 season and was Ferrari's 46^th Formula 1 design. 2000 was a record-breaking year for Ferrari—taking 170 points, 10 wins and 10 pole positions. But most important, it was the year of the double World Championships. After twenty-one long years, Ferrari ruled the world once again when Michael Schumacher was crowned World Champion after nine wins. The Scuderia Ferrari also took the Constructors’ title for the second year running.

The car that brought these results had a unique, four-number designation: it was very different from its predecessors especially with regard to its front-end aerodynamics featuring a high nose cone that dipped to support the low wing. The chassis' center of gravity was lowered. The more powerful Tipo 049 engine was also redesigned with a 90° V between the cylinder banks to make it lower.

The 2000 Formula One Japanese GP was held at Suzuka on October 8^th, 2000. It was a very tense race which Schumacher won, claiming his third World Title. At the 1999 Japan GP, Schumacher had lost to McLaren’s Mika Häkkinen, but in 2000 his last 6-second pit stop put him in front of Häkkinen and enabled him to win the race.
