The F2007 was the fifty-third single-seater Ferrari built specifically to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship. The project, known internally as “the 658”, represented Scuderia's interpretation of the technical regulations which had changed in 2007, principally concerning safety, due to the introduction of more stringent front and rear crash tests and the addition of a composite material structure to provide lateral protection to the sides of the driver. These modifications led to a significant increase in weight, in the region of just under ten kilogrammes.

The car was famous for providing Kimi Raikkönen with his first World Championship title and the team with its first Constructor's Title since Michael Schumacher helped them win both in 2004.

Schumacher, who retired at the end of 2006 season after winning the World Championship seven times, drove a Ferrari F2007 as a test driver and technical advisor during the 20th and the 21st of November at Barcelona. His input aimed to help the team develop the systems for the 2008 car.
