The 312 T racing car was used for the first three races of the 1976 season, and then was replaced by a modified version, the 312 T2. This was effectively the same car, with detail changes. Lauda won the first 2 races of this season with this 312 T version, one of them was the Formula One South African Grand Prix held at Kyalami.
