The Ferrari F1-89 is the single-seater Ferrari that competed in the 1989, designed by John Barnard, the technical director of Ferrari during that season. The Ferrari F1-89 was the first Ferrari he was responsible to design and he proposed for the first time ever a big innovation in an F1 car: a semiautomatic sequential gearbox. His idea was to speed up gear change and it was accepted eventually used by all teams.

The F1-89 was powered by Ferrari's own 3.5-liter V-12 engine which produced up to 600 horsepower and was driven by Nigel Mansell, one of the world’s top drivers.
