“We chose to call this model LaFerrari,” declared Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo, “because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence. Excellence in terms of technological innovation, performance, visionary styling and the sheer thrill of driving. Aimed at our collectors, this is a truly extraordinary car which encompasses advanced solutions that, in the future, will find their way onto the rest of the range, and it represents the benchmark for the entire automotive industry. LaFerrari is the finest expression of our company’s unique, unparalleled engineering and design know-how, including that acquired in Formula 1.”
The limited edition LaFerrari was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. This supercar succeeds the Ferrari Enzo and only 499 models will be built. LaFerrari is the first ever hybrid from Ferrari, providing the highest power output of any Ferrari and at the same time decreasing fuel consumption by 40% and reducing emissions. Like every Ferrari, it is the spectacular result of an uncompromising design approach that integrates styling and beauty with flawless aerodynamics. It is the first car designed by Flavio Manzoni and his team, developed and built in the same department as Ferrari’s F1 cars. The V-12 carbon fiber monocoque, with its 800 horsepower and an electric motor that adds 163 horsepower to the mix, has a top speed exceeding 350 km/h (220 mph) and can lap the Fiorano track in under 1’20’’ - faster than any other road car Ferrari has ever produced.
