DINO 246 GT

Debuted at the Geneva Salon in 1969, the ‘Dino’ brand was created to market a lower priced, ‘affordable’ Ferrari sports car. Dino was a brand for mid-engined, rear-drive sports cars produced by Ferrari from 1967 to 1980. The name ‘Dino’ honors the founder’s late son who was credited with the design of the V6 engine.

The Dino 246 GT was an evolution of the Dino 206 GT, with a larger V6 engine and a wheelbase lengthened by 60 mm. Apart from the longer body, the design was virtually identical, with just a longer engine cover and a repositioned fuel cap. Between 1969 and 1974 a total of 2639 Dino 246 GT models were produced which made the Dino 246 the first Ferrari model produced in high numbers. When production stopped in 1974 demand was still high.
